Strangely, for something I was anticipating for such a long time, it was incredibly depressing and I found myself not wanting to graduate.

But alas, what is gone is gone, and now I must look towards the future: Exams! Unfortunately, a severe case of nocturnality has rendered me lacking in the energy and attention span required to study. And no, nocturnality may not actually exist, but it is the best way to describe my unusual 6am to 12pm sleeping patterns. Try it some time. It really screws you over.

Not much else has happened, really. Or if it did, my terrible memory quickly stored in it the 'Do not open again' section (along with everything I should have learnt in class this year).

And so, I leave you with some wise words of advice:

'I understand how scissors can beat paper, and I get how a rock can beat scissors, but there's no fucking way paper can beat rock.
Is paper supposed to magically wrap around rock and leave it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they take notes in class?
I'll tell you why: Because paper can't beat anybody. A rock would tear that shit up in two seconds.
When I play rock, paper, scissors, I always choose rock. Then when someone claims to have beaten me with their paper, I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say "Oh shit, I'm sorry. I though paper would protect you. Asshole."'

God damn, sometimes I love 4chan.

Regards,
Doomsayer,
Chief of the the Destruction of Humanity Committee.

Another update! I'm on a roll.

So, it's time for another update. After a particularly emotastic two-weeks, I had a weekend which afforded me the opportunity to cheer up a little.

I went to Monash University on Friday (August 24th) for a Transition Day. Overall, it was pretty pointless, as they didn't really teach me anything about Monash that I didn't already know/want to know. However, it wasn't all bad, as it meant missing a whole day of school (in your face, double Maths!), and it finished at 12:30.
That being said, after catching the bus to Huntingdale Station, we found the train had broken down, so there'd be a delay of 25-30 mins. Then, after 25-30 mins, they told us that there would be a bus coming to take us to Caulfield Station. Turns out there wasn't, which meant catching the public bus (the 900, if anyone is really that interested). Which meant having to wait a further 20 mins because the first bus was full. Why oh why didn't we just stay on the first bus until Caulfield Station?

Then Saturday involved firstly work (8am-1pm, which was fun considering I'd had barely and sleep the night before. Insomnia for the win), then finding a costume (explained later).
After that I ventured into the city to watch a discussion about the life and works of W. H. Auden (which was part of The Age Melbourne Writers Festival), which was ideally meant to help for our Literature exam, but really involved nothing more than two old men reminiscing about Auden.
Finally was Chris Rosetti's 18th, which involved travelling all the way to the far away land of Berwick. The party was a costumed 'Heroes' theme, so I decided to take the cheap way out, and simply rented a long black overcoat (which I now want to buy, or one similar to it), and wearing a black T-shirt and jeans underneath. And voila, instant Neo. I'll try and find some pictures, and post them somewhere (I might have to dig out my old Photobucket account, le gasp).
The party itself was pretty uneventful, but some of the costumes were interesting (Nathan Holt as Captain Planet, Jonothan Wills as a spandex-clad Batman).

And finally, a very beautifully sunny Sunday, which involved nothing more than finishing off my damn draft for my Literature SAC tomorrow, which is worth a whopping 60 marks out of the total 200 for Coursework in Literature 3&4. We were given the tasks several weeks ago, so I picked something I thought would be easy and entertaining. Turns out trying to transpose Dylan Thomas' Under Milkwood to a modern upper-class suburbia setting is rather difficult, and resulted in the urge to slam my head against the wall.
Also, I attempted to mow the lawn. Note the word attempted, as I discovered, to my elation, that the lawn-mower was ill, and decided to alert me of that fact by blowing out rather sick smoke, and idling in a rather strange fashion. So, calloo, callay, I was able to put the mower away and enjoy the sunshine instead by sitting amongst the amusingly long grass.

And that's it for my weekend. Coming up next week, watch me go insane as I start my healthy eating diet (you know that you're unfit when you become out of breath just from running up the stairs). Apparently eating grass is good for you.

じゃ、みんな、まったね。

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://paradoxicaloxymoron.blogspot.com/2007/08/another-update-im-on-roll.html' title='Another update! And, sadly, not much has happened....

However, it seems this blog has slowly been deteriorating in my absence (much like the pride and morals of Haileybury since Aikman left), so I might do some updating in the next few days (such as changing links, because Matt and Luke are conformist sheep. Wordpress, pfft).

I guess the most exiting things are as follows:

- I'm once again trying to give up WoW. Hopefully, however, it'll be for good

- I'm now going out with Yaz, who I met through work. She's a weirdo too, and completely accepting of my nerdiness. Hooray!

- School is almost finished! And I have a course lined up already, so I hope I get accepted (Bachelor of Arts (Languages) at Monash, if anyone is interested. A Major in French and Linguistics, and Minors in Translating and Interpreting (it's one subject, not two seperate ones) and another language (most likely German or Spanish. Bye bye Japanese!).

- Fame is underway, and close to performance time. Although my input has been minimal (read: thwarted by Nazi parents and an evil Maths teacher), I hope to be doing something useful on nights, unlike Inheritance, where my greatest accomplishment was putting Mr Frame in his place.

Oh, and last night I went to see the Phantom of the Opera starring Anthony Warlow. Even though he has been sick, he still managed a brilliant performance, alongside his co-stars. And the technical aspects were amazing too (such as hundreds of tiny lights embedded in the floor, set and backdrops to resemble flickering candles and stars, dry ice to create a floor-hugging mist, pyrotechnics, incredibly detailed costumes, and a giant chandelier which swung from the roof and crashed into the stage). It was definately worth enduring my family for a night in order to see it.

There's more, but I'm tired (and suffering from insomnia), so I'll finish here and add more when I think of it.

Until next time,
Doomsayer, over and out.

First off, I would like to apologise to my double Japanese class after what I said last post. As it turns out, I would much rather be awake for Jap than any other class.

Maths Methods sucks, especially given my teacher and the people in my class.

Chemisty is fun... sometimes. Only when we're not talking/learning about chem, and instead arguing over things like "Is golf a sport or a hobby?" (I still maintain that it's a hobby. If senile old people with arthritis can play, it's not a sport. That goes for lawn bowls to)

Literature actually almost put me to sleep. Turns out studying Under Milkwood (the play which I did for my Theatre Studies monologue last year) is alot more boring than I thought it would be. The revamped version we're listening to has the most expressionless voices actors, and despite my efforts to stay awake, I can feel myself slipping away to the world of dreams.

So, turns out the subject I though I would hate has become my favourite. I've even turned more egg (white on the outside, yellow (asian) in the middle). Watching anime, speaking in Japanese, eating sushi...

------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought I would explain my random outbursts of "THAT'S RIGHT!" and "MERRY TUESDAY", by linking this. It might clear up a few things.

------------------------------------------------------------------

So, "Heroes" is awesome. I despise shows like Lost (Polar bears on a tropical island. RAWR!) and Prison Break, but I'm actually enjoying Heroes. Channel 7 managed to actually buy the rights to a decent show! I want a murderous version of me inside a mirror.....

Apart from those fews things, not much to report. Rose's party had died down by the time I finished work and arrived, so it was dull. WoW has been full of noobs, and makes me wish there was some way to stab people in the face via the internet. School is boring, the only thing that keeps me sane it the thought of being able to get home and sleep/relax.

Will I enter the comatose state I so desire? Tune in next time to find out!

Ok, so, back to school. Yay....

Luckily, it's the final year, so it means that I only have to wait a short time before I can start missing classes and not have people bother to chase me up about it (damn you Marshall, and your crafty ways).

In other news, I recieved my new laptop. It's rather useful (including the wireless network that was set up), apart from the fact that it doesn't have Microsoft Office (just MS Works. Notepad, bleh.) or a decent virus-scanner and firewall (McAfee spams me with 'critical update' messages every 30 mins, but then tells me I have to register to be able to download them. Unfortunately, I don't know what version of McAfee I'm using, and can't find anything which tells me. Damn them!). The best part of the laptop is I can leave it to download during the day (when I'm at school/work) or at night (when I'm asleep). It gives me so much opportunity to make use of our large download limit (2.6gb of anime downloaded in 2 days, and much more to come soon, when I can think of more things to download)

This Saturday is Rose's 16th (there, happy now?) (in a masquerade theme). I'm looking forward to it, because it gives me a valid excuse to wear a mask, other than to be wierd. Although it's no alcohol, which takes the fun out of things.

Apart from that, my holidays hasn't been spent doing much. Working, playing WoW, and not sleeping (Out of the entire 168 hours of last week, probably only 42 of those were spent sleeping, and average of 6 hours per night). Instead, I'm planning on putting my education to good use, and sleep through class. What better way to pass double Japanese?

When I can find the time (and energy), I'll post some of the things that have been keeping me entertained over the pasts few weeks. Till then, help me in my fight against world stupidity by killing a supermodel/movie star/clothing store clerk/emo/politician/sportsman. Do it. You know you want to.

I decided it's time to drag my ass away from World of Warcraft and make a post. But I'm bored, so whatever.

So, I took the Five Factor Personality Test. Amazingly, for an internet quiz/test, it was pretty accurate:

***Your Five Factor Personality Profile***

Extroversion:

You have medium extroversion.
You're not the life of the party, but you do show up for the party.
Sometimes you are full of energy and open to new social experiences.
But you also need to hibernate and enjoy your "down time."

Conscientiousness:

You have medium conscientiousness.
You're generally good at balancing work and play.
When you need to buckle down, you can usually get tasks done.
But you've been known to goof off when you know you can get away with it.

Agreeableness:

You have low agreeableness.
Your self interest comes first, and others come later, if at all.
In general, you feel that people are not to be trusted.
And you're skeptical that anyone else really feels differently.

Neuroticism:

You have medium neuroticism.
You're generally cool and collected, but sometimes you do panic.
Little worries or problems can consume you, draining your energy.
Your life is pretty smooth, but there's a few emotional bumps you'd like to get rid of.

Openness to experience:

Your openness to new experiences is high.
In life, you tend to be an early adopter of all new things and ideas.
You'll try almost anything interesting, and you're constantly pushing your own limits.
A great connoisseir of art and beauty, you can find the positive side of almost anything.

Most of it was true. Especially Extroversion. Hint, peoples: If I'm on MSN, I'm happy to talk. If I'm not on MSN, DON'T TRY TO TALK TO ME! I'm surrounding myself in solitude. And no, that doesn't mean I've disappeared off the face of the earth.

On to other matters, I've decided working on the 24th of December is fun. Not only was *everyone* from the store working, but there was hardly any customers. I got paid for 4 hours work when, in reality, the most productive thing I did was take down tinsel. Which I highly enjoyed, as I was discussing with my supervisor how commercial Christmas is. Fun times had by all.

Over and out. A time for buying and recieveing presents, racing around shopping centres and forgetting the real reason for this holiday: to celebrate the birth of Christ (also Kong's birthday, but he's not Jesus, just a panda). However, it has made for some fun times at work, as almost every employee has been rostered on to work, even though there really isn't that much more to do. I've lost count of how many times I've said "Have a Merry Christmas!", and I'm sure that I'm soon going to slip and say "Enjoy your Consumeristmas. How much money have you spent already?". Seriously, some people have spent more than $200 on food alone. Pure insanity, I say.

I went to see Casino Royale the other day. The new James Bond was good, I thought, even though the movie did drag on for quite a while (just as I thought the movie was about to finish, "oh noes!", another villain, another chase). I'm tempted to rent out the original version now, to compare the two. And the chick was hot, with an awesome attitude (sarcasm is the bestest).

Can't really think of anything else to say, except: Peoples, go on MSN, dammit! I need to discuss plans for the holidays, but can't, because you're never on! Christiaan, I'm looking at you! (I'd suggest you feign death now or suffer my wrath). Seriously, if you do read this at all, or anyone else who has signs that he is still alive, let him know that I'm free on New Year's, and able to get absolutely comatose.

Lastly, hooray for the smoke clearing. It's been a week that's made me even more reluctant to go outside, considering it was impossible to see more than 50 metres. Let's hope it stays cloudly and raining, because that's the way (uh huh, uh huh) I like it.

And no, Luke, I don't know what to get your Dad for Christmas. Just get him a gift voucher for Southland, like I normally do when I can't think of something (why buy something they'll hate, when they can go out and buy something they want).

Ok, so, I've almost finished Kingdom Hearts II already. Pretty disappointing. Alot of the game seems like it was only included to further the storyline (there's more cutscenes than anything else).

Apart from that, not much to report. Now that I have the money I was going to order a laptop over the internet, only to discover that the site only delivers to the US. Now I have to hunt around for a decent one. *sigh*

If anyone has a some (by some, I mean alot of) time to kill, visit this place. Damn happy with that. Theatre Studies didn't go so well, a 32 raw. I'm not sre about the scaling of that, but I think it goes up only a few marks. Meh, I was kind of expecting it anyway, considering I liked the subject but didn't put much work in.

In other news, here's some links. It seems that of late Square-Enix are trying to stuff as many mini-games into their releases as possible. I mean, half of KH2 is mini-games, FF7 had its share, and FFX-2 was a complete waste of time. Gambling and dress-up dolls. The name is taken from the song Zerstören by the German metal band Rammstein. It also happens to be one of my favourtie songs. You can find the link here. Although the lyrics of Rammstein are strange, the music is good, in my opinion. I've even managed to pick up a few words of German

As pointed out by my dearest friend Nick, AKA Panda, this first few posts of this blog have sounded rather emo. Once again, Blizzard has managed to explode their servers again (normally done on a weekly basis), resulting in increasing the already-longer-than-normal maintenance from 12 hours to a mind-numbing 17 hours. I *was* planning to download the patch and test it out before school, but now it seems I'll have to wait until I get home. Good work Blizzard!

I wouldn't be as angry, except for the fact that things like this happen every time they release a patch. People tell me "They're doing good for their first MMO", but it's not. Diablo II was their first MMO, and even though it had its flaws (like people being able to come in and steal your loot), they probably did a better job with it than with WoW.

All I can say is I can't wait for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning to be released. Mythic used something Blizzard don't have (brains and intelligence) to look at the current top-selling MMO (World of Warcraft), research its bad points, improve said flaws, and release a brand new game featuring the things people liked from WoW, and a fixed version of the things they hated. Good game from Mythic. Show those Blizzard money-whores how to make an MMO.

Ok, maybe not so quick, but it's something that's been annoying me for a while.

Completely off-topic, I'm 1/5th of the way to affording my new laptop. Yay! I can finally play Neverwinter Nights 2, which I spent $90 on, only to discover that it's virtually unplayable (1 frame per second, woot!) on my current paperweight of a computer.

And before anyone states that when I'm 30 I'll still be living in my parent's basement playing video games, I would like to remind them of one thing: I hate my parents. It's not going to happen.

So, first update. Let's see.......

I got nothing.

Last Saturday (2nd November) I had Tals' 18th. Pretty good night, apart from the fact that security was called 10 mins after I arrived and the party had to be relocated, so we risked being arrested by drinking in the park for 2 hours. Met some interesting people, drank, good night overall. I also discovered Tals' iPod is just as random as she is. The first song would be rap, next would be something like Linkin Park (who are NOT emo, god dammit. They made music before emo was a genre, and most of their song lyrics have nothing to do with despair, pain, darkness, etc. So stop calling them emo, peoples), and then right after that would be Monty Python. Strange indeed.

Here's something I prepared earlier (a forum banner that I made a few months ago). If I can find how to upload it to this site somewhere, I will. Enjoy: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/Alastair/DoomsayerTag3.jpg

Apart from that, nothing new to report. I downloaded White and Nerdy by Weird Al Yankovic today, since I've had it stuck in my head since Sat. night

Welcome to Paradoxical Oxymoron

I finally did it. I succumbed to constant requests by friends to create a blog. I'm stepping out of the norm to do something completely against my way of life; I'm doing something popular... However, I will always refuse to create a MySpace, as they are for emos. Any comments by people to create a CrySpace (Nick, I'm looking at you) will result in severe repercussions.

Anyways, moving on, welcome all to Paradoxical Oxymoron. I'm hoping to use this site as my last bastion of sanity, and to pour my entire heart, soul and feelings into text that can be accessed by all kinds of anonymous wierdos on the internet, laying bare all my secrets and desires..... or not.

"Conventions are for those too weak-minded to think for themselves" - Me

I'll be posting random stuff here, whatever whim takes me when I'm on the internet. Links to funny sites, stuff made on Photoshop by your's truly, good YouTube clips, complaints about Safeway customers (I have lots) and all that crap. Hell, maybe even the odd emo's CrySpace, so that everyone can visit and laugh at their pathetic attempts to gain the attention of the populace.
Want to be known? Don't sit at Flinder's Street Station all day. Go out, get a job, buy a sniper rifle/chainsaw/katana and march into Parliament. You'll become (in)famous, and possibly even take out John Howard. Two birds with one stone!

That's all for now, I'll be back tomorrow to make my first official non-welcome post. Till then, have fun and don't do anything I would do.
